It's definitely the rainy season here now in Tropical North Queensland, and we couldn't be happier about it! Although there might be a lot oif 'liquid sunshine' falling from the sky there are still loads of really cool things to see and do, here are a few of our favourites!
White Water Rafting
If you're going to get wet anyway you may as well get a little wetter! Rafting on a rainy day is even better because it means there's more rapids to enjoy. Take it from us - a wet afternoon spent in the Barron River is a great afternoon!
Exploring Waterfalls
When the rain starts to fall so do our many local waterfalls, that's why us locals get so excited when the monsoon starts to arrive. The harder it rains the better the waterfalls look, so if it's been torrential overnight the day after is definitely the time to go exploring!
Visiting the Rainforest
The clue is in the name here - it's not called the RAINforest for nothing! After a long dry season the areas around Cairns spring to life as drops start to fall, it is by far the best time of year to see the flore and fauna that live here.

Snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef
Thanks to the orographic effect rain tends to fall a lot more on mountains, that means that when it's raining on Cairns it's very rarely raining on the reef! Plus the fish don't mind a bit of precipitation anyway...
White Knuckle action on Bad Fishy
The aim of the game when riding on nemo's naughty brother 'screamo' is to get as many waves to the face as possible anyway, so who cares if it's a bit riny at the same time?
